Can I use my EID reader to collect additional information on each animal?
Yes. Both the AWR300 and APR650 readers can record EID tag numbers and allow you to manually add visual tag numbers.
What if I want to collect more than just a visual tag number?
Both readers come with internal Bluetooth capability, allowing you to pair them with a smartphone, tablet, or computer. By using an app like TagMax, you can collect additional data points. You can also connect them to a computer to utilize the virtual keyboard feature, which makes it easy to input data into programs like Excel.
Why would the APR650 barcode scanner be useful for a livestock market?
The APR650 can read both EID tags (HDX and FDX) as well as barcodes. If your livestock market uses back tags with barcodes for identification, the APR650 can scan these barcodes and pair them with the corresponding EID tag during animal processing.
Do I just need the AWR300 reader, or is the kit a better option?
The AWR300 Reader (standalone) includes the reader, wall charger, and charging cable. If you opt for the kit, you will receive all the standalone items plus a hard case for secure storage and transportation.
Will these readers work with any type of EID tag?
Allflex EID readers are compatible with low-frequency EID tags, including HDX (Half Duplex) and FDX (Full Duplex) tags. However, they cannot read high-frequency tags.
